The Directorate of Renal Medicine in Manchester Royal Infirmary is one of the flagship specialties of the Trust, delivering renal care for the people of Greater Manchester Central, East, North and South and East Cheshire. The Directorate has a strong history of leading on innovation in renal medicine, particularly in areas such as peritoneal dialysis, home haemodialysis, acute kidney injury and renal transplantation. There is a strong and growing consultant work force, supported by a multdisciplinary team of trainee doctors, advanced nurse practitioners and specialist nurses. The renal directorate is currently undergoing various important innovations in areas such as haemodialysis that will deliver significant improvements in the care of its patients.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an energetic, enthusiatic, dynamic consultant nephrologist to join the team and help towards delivering the department's goal of providing the best possible renal care to its patients. There is a vibrant team delivering excellent clinical care and pioneering significant innovations in the field of nephrology. The post holder will be a qualified (or about to qualify) nephrologist with a CCT and on the GMC specialist register, well versed with the key aspects of specialist renal care including inpatient and outpatient care, dialysis, acute transplantation, general nephrology including pre-dialysis care and glomerular diseases. The post involves both routine weekday care and on call duties. You will have strong communication skills, the ability to supervise and lead a team delivering excelent care, teach, train and mentor and work flexibly and cohesively within a team. Whilst subspecialty interest and track record is not essential, the appointee will be encouraged and supported in developing highly specialized skills in areas of need and mutual interest.
