Are you interested in an exciting career in clinical research?

We’re looking for a Full time (37.5 hrs. /wk.) Band 6 Clinical Research Nurse for a 12 month fixed term contract, to coordinate, facilitate and deliver clinical research studies within Adult Hematology (Oncology) at Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT).

You’ll be joining the Adult Hematology research team, a diverse team of experts at CMFT who provide high quality care and support all patients taking part in research.

Clinical research at CMFT:

CMFT is a leading provider of tertiary and specialist healthcare services treating over one million patients each year.

Our Research and Innovation Division is dedicated to driving continuous improvement in the care our patients receive through clinical research. We support some 300 principal investigators, who undertake research across a diverse range of clinical areas, spread across seven hospitals and community services, to deliver improved diagnostics, treatments and devices for patients in Manchester and beyond.

CMFT has a large research portfolio, with excellent facilities and internationally renowned researchers; we have a global reputation for conducting and delivering pioneering research.

What we’re looking for:

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Nurse who is capable of contributing to the development of research within our Adult Hematology research team.

You will take a proactive approach in managing clinical research studies including developing study procedures and practice, gaining consent and approvals and recruiting patients, alongside clinical duties including providing the highest quality patient care and collecting samples. In addition to this, you may need to coordinate with other sites within the UK, and this may occasionally requires traveling.

You will be instrumental in implementing study objectives and will provide dedicated support to ensure that studies are delivered to time and target. You will be the main point of contact for study principal investigators, sponsors and patients and so effective communication and team working skills are essential. You will be involved in ensuring that research undertaken at CMFT safeguards the well-being of patients and is undertaken within ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines. You will also have opportunities to showcase your work and will at all times be an ambassador of research at CMFT, at internal and external events.

Prior clinical research nursing experience is not essential, but advantageous. You will be educated to a degree level; you will have experience of nursing in a clinical setting and have First Level registration RN (adult). Comprehensive training and an induction programme will be provided for successful candidates. We will also ensure that you have tailored, individual personal development plans with support for further training. Opportunities for developing new research and clinical skills are available and actively encouraged.
