From 1st October 2017, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) has joined together to create a new Foundation Trust which has been named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

Manchester Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) work with children, young people and families aged up to 18 years and who present with a wide range of complex emotional and behavioural difficulties. This service is provided from the Winnicott Centre at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

We are looking for an experienced mental health practitioner who is able to work autonomously within a multi-disciplinary team. You must have significant and demonstrable experience of working with vulnerable people and families, who present with complex mental health needs and often risk.

You must have a working knowledge of CAMHS and or adult mental health and have an understanding of assessing complex mental health needs and levels of risk, including safeguarding and self-harm.
You will manage your own caseload, providing a range of high quality care appropriate to the child or young person's needs which will include; mental state assessment, risk assessment and management, family and social assessment, consultation and interventions.

You must have a demonstrable range of skills and knowledge base to deliver clinical aspects of the role and be competent to do this work as an autonomous practitioner within professional practice guidelines and a structured supervision framework.

You must be confident and experienced in communication, due to the high level of liaison needed between CAMHS and other services and be willing to work flexible hours in accordance with the needs of the young people.

This post is a clinical post and the expectation of time management is that the majority of time will be spent in face to face clinical practice.
Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the Central Manchester and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
