Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) will join together to create a new Foundation Trust in October 2017 which will be named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust; subject to required approvals.   Following this, the plan is for North Manchester General Hospital (which is currently part of The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust) to join the new organisation around 12-18 months later.

As a result of this plan, it’s such an extremely exciting and challenging period in the delivery of health and social care in Greater Manchester and one that provides a wealth of opportunity. Our new organisation will provide a single hospital service across the city of Manchester and in 12- 18 months will also include the services currently provided by North Manchester General Hospital.  These changes will make a real difference to the health outcomes and quality of life for the people of Manchester.

This is an exciting opportunity to apply for the post of Clinical Lead for the Manchester Community Dental Service (MCDS) within Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. MCDS provides a high-quality, city-wide specialist service for children and adults with additional needs, and people in priority and vulnerable groups, who are unable to access care in the General Dental Services. In addition, MCDS works in partnership with the University of Manchester School of Dentistry and the appointee will be responsible for managing the Outreach Teaching Programme within the Service.

The successful candidate will have excellent strategic, leadership and clinical skills together with vision, enthusiasm, dedication and commitment. The role is both challenging and rewarding with an opportunity to take responsibility for a large, modernised and vibrant service which is committed to providing holistic, person-focused special dental care for patients from childhood and throughout adult life.

Full GDC registration and entry on the Specialist List for Paediatric Dentistry and/or Special Care Dentistry is required and eligibility for entry onto the Performers List.
