Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) will join together to create a new Foundation Trust in October 2017 which will be named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust; subject to required approvals.   Following this, the plan is for North Manchester General Hospital (which is currently part of The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust) to join the new organisation around 12-18 months later.

As a result of this plan, it’s such an extremely exciting and challenging period in the delivery of health and social care in Greater Manchester and one that provides a wealth of opportunity. Our new organisation will provide a single hospital service across the city of Manchester and in 12- 18 months will also include the services currently provided by North Manchester General Hospital.  These changes will make a real difference to the health outcomes and quality of life for the people of Manchester. 

Central Manchester University Hospitals and Community services are pleased to consider applications for the position of General Practitioner within our Intermediate Care Service. The post will be based in our Intermediate care service consisting of a 35 bedded unit based in Central Manchester.

Intermediate Care is at the heart of delivering innovative care outside hospital for patients requiring a period of support /rehabilitation either in the patient’s own home or in one of our bed based units. The bed based service provides care for patients with nursing and residential care. We are a dynamic, fast paced, ever evolving service and we have a wide experience of professionals that make up this friendly team. The service is an essential part of driving forward Manchester’s Vision for delivering more care in the community and is continually striving to develop new ways of working across all health, social and voluntary providers.

While the patient participates with rehabilitation in the unit our medical team take full responsibility for the medical care that they require. The overall Intermediate care team comprises of Consultants, GP’s, Advanced nurse practitioners, pharmacists, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social worker, rehab assistants, assistant practitioners & admin staff. Multi-disciplinary team working is key to the success of this service and the post holder must be committed to working as part of this multi professional workforce. You will be supported with a range of opportunities to develop yourself and your career whilst focusing on the management and delivery of excellent care and high quality service.

We are looking for a Registered General Practitioner with significant post-registered experience to provide 2 sessions a week within the bed based unit.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
