Are you committed to delivering a high quality service and providing the very best standard of care for our patients? If so we would like you to join our existing team in the stem cell transplant laboratory.

This is an integral part of the Trust’s Haematology/Oncology stem cell transplant programme. The laboratory, which is HTA and JACIE accredited, provides specialist clinical and technical services to support these busy transplant programmes. The laboratory receives, processes, cryopreserves and issues haematopoietic stem cells for therapeutic use in both adult and paediatric patients. This is a small team dedicated to meeting the current clinical demands on the service, developing the next generation of processing techniques and also participation in clinical trials .

Previous experience in Stem Cell work would be desirable however full training and supervision would be available. You would require evidence of completion of the IBMS specialist portfolio or equivalent in Haematology and Blood Transfusion or a relevant related field.

Due to the work demands of the laboratory this post does not currently include any shift rota participation. However some flexibility around daily start/finish times is sometimes required.

In the future the department may potentially require staff to work shifts that ensure that the continual service needs of the department can be met. Should the department’s position change you will be required to work within a rotational shift pattern which would include shifts through the departments 24 hours a day/7 days per week service.

Shift patterns will be determined by your line manager and you will be required to work your contracted hours as and when necessary to meet the service needs of your department.

In return we will provide a comprehensive induction programme and you will be appraised on a yearly basis with a view to developing knowledge and skills where appropriate.
