Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) will join together to create a new Foundation Trust in October 2017 which will be named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust; subject to required approvals.   Following this, the plan is for North Manchester General Hospital (which is currently part of The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust) to join the new organisation around 12-18 months later.

As a result of this plan, it’s such an extremely exciting and challenging period in the delivery of health and social care in Greater Manchester and one that provides a wealth of opportunity. Our new organisation will provide a single hospital service across the city of Manchester and in 12- 18 months will also include the services currently provided by North Manchester General Hospital.  These changes will make a real difference to the health outcomes and quality of life for the people of Manchester. 

Central Manchester University Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust is an internationally renowned acute teaching hospital. The newly built Newborn Intensive Care Unit opened in July 2009 providing state of the art facilities for the care of medical and surgical neonates and an exciting opportunity with the specialist paediatric facilities co-located with the new Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. This post offers excellent experience to gain Neonatal experience in the care of sick, extremely preterm and surgical infants. This post is also ideally suited for Paediatricians who desire additional post CCT experience in Neonatology.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellent skills in Neonatal Intensive Care, good leadership and communication skills and multi-disciplinary team working. Excellent opportunities exist for participation in teaching, research, audit and clinical governance.

The post is available from as soon as possible for a period of 6-12 months and may be extended by mutual consent. Salary will be on the Specialty Registrar pay scale which ranges from £30,605 to £48,123 per annum. The post also attracts a Band 1a supplement (payable at 50%).

This post does not carry Deanery educational and training approval; however the Trust has developed an Education and Training Contract with each junior. Study / exam leave together with financial support for exam courses may be provided.

This role may be suitable for non-UK or non-EEA job applicants wishing to apply for Home Office Tier 2 sponsorship. The successful candidate will be required to apply for an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure.
