Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) will join together to create a new Foundation Trust in October 2017 which will be named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust; subject to required approvals.   Following this, the plan is for North Manchester General Hospital (which is currently part of The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust) to join the new organisation around 12-18 months later.

As a result of this plan, it’s such an extremely exciting and challenging period in the delivery of health and social care in Greater Manchester and one that provides a wealth of opportunity. Our new organisation will provide a single hospital service across the city of Manchester and in 12- 18 months will also include the services currently provided by North Manchester General Hospital.  These changes will make a real difference to the health outcomes and quality of life for the people of Manchester.

Are you dynamic, patient-centred & self-motivated? Are you a research nurse looking for a new and exciting challenge? Why not consider joining the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN) Greater Manchester’s Core Team to support local NHS Trust teams in delivering NHS research to patients across the region.

We are expanding our workforce and require 2 highly motivated and enthusiastic Level 1 Nurses with proven research delivery experience who are capable of contributing to the support and development of research within the CRN Greater Manchester.

The role is interesting and varied and offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience across a range of disciplines, organisations and systems which is essential for career development in this field. You will be based at Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Trust but you could be assigned to any of the NHS Trust teams across our network depending on where support is most needed. You must therefore, be willing and able to travel between sites.

You will take a proactive approach in managing clinical research studies including developing study procedures and practice, gaining consent and approvals and recruiting patients, alongside clinical duties including providing the highest quality patient care and collecting samples.

You will be instrumental in implementing study objectives and will provide dedicated support to ensure that studies are delivered to time and target. You will be a point of contact for study principal investigators, sponsors and patients and so effective communication and team working skills are essential. You will be involved in ensuring that research undertaken safeguards the well-being of patients and is undertaken within Good Clinical Practice Guidelines.

Prior clinical research nursing experience is essential. You will have First Level registration RN (adult). Comprehensive induction, orientation and training will be provided for successful candidates. We will also ensure that you have tailored, individual personal development plans with support for further training.

If applying, please be aware that shortlisting is bench-marked against the person specification. We also focus on the construction of your personal statement in relation to this particular role.
