Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) will join together to create a new Foundation Trust in October 2017 which will be named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust; subject to required approvals.   Following this, the plan is for North Manchester General Hospital (which is currently part of The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust) to join the new organisation around 12-18 months later.

As a result of this plan, it’s such an extremely exciting and challenging period in the delivery of health and social care in Greater Manchester and one that provides a wealth of opportunity. Our new organisation will provide a single hospital service across the city of Manchester and in 12- 18 months will also include the services currently provided by North Manchester General Hospital.  These changes will make a real difference to the health outcomes and quality of life for the people of Manchester.

Join us as a Theatre Nurse (RN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) and you'll work as part of multi-disciplinary teams, focused on the safe and excellent care of patients undergoing surgical procedures.

The Manchester Royal Infirmary Adult Theatres have a suite of 18 operating theatres which include 2 state of the art Hybrid operating rooms; we have 3 recovery rooms/areas, spread over 3 distinct locations within the Division of Surgery based in Central Manchester at the MRI.

We are a dynamic team always striving for improvement of the patients perioperative journey and staff wellbeing and are looking for both experienced staff and staff new to theatres to work across Anaesthetics, Scrub and Recovery.

We have opportunities in Head and Neck, Colorectal, HPB, General Surgery, Renal, Trauma Orthopaedics, elective Orthopaedics, Urology, Vascular, Cardiac, Transplant, National Organ Retrieval Service (NORS) and 24/7 Emergency Surgery.

Our comprehensive competency-based development programme will support you every step of the way. Supervised by a dedicated theatre nurse/practitioner, you'll be challenged to increase your knowledge and skills month by month.

There are opportunities to access further education through our Service Level Agreement at local Universities to expand and enhance your abilities. A love of teaching is essential as we accommodate trainee ODP's, Student Nurses and trainee paramedics and there are often opportunities to develop managerial experience too.

All staff in theatre work with our values in mind: Pride, Respect, Empathy, Consideration, Compassion and Dignity. These are rewarding opportunities to work in an integrated multidisciplinary team that offers real potential for personal and structured professional development. It's a chance to provide care you can be proud of.
