Our new organisation will provide a single hospital service across the city of Manchester and in 12- 18 months will also include the services currently provided by North Manchester General Hospital.  These changes will make a real difference to the health outcomes and quality of life for the people of Manchester.  That’s why this really is an extremely exciting and challenging period in the delivery of health and social care in Greater Manchester and one that provides a wealth career opportunities for great people right across our Group.

We are offering an excellent opportunity for two HCPC registered Clinical Scientists to join our laboratory. We are looking for suitably qualified individuals who are highly motivated to further their careers. We offer one of the most successful training programmes in the UK in H&I, and study towards higher qualifications will be positively encouraged. Participation in research and innovation relevant to the needs of the service is also a requirement of this post, and presentation of data at national and international H&I meetings will be supported.

Our laboratory serves regional kidney, pancreas, islet, heart, lung, cornea, haemopoietic progenitor cell transplant programmes and HLA typing for disease diagnosis or drug toxicity risk assessment. Full interaction with the relevant clinical teams, including attendance at multidisciplinary team meetings is expected. A requirement of the post is to participate in the out of hours’ on-call rota which supports the organ transplant programmes.

Applications are invited from individuals with experience in all aspects of H&I, evidenced by attainment of the BSHI Diploma, or graduation from an STP programme. Individuals within 12 months of attaining state registration, or with an application under consideration, are also encouraged to apply.
