Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) will join together to create a new Foundation Trust in October 2017 which will be named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust; subject to required approvals.   Following this, the plan is for North Manchester General Hospital (which is currently part of The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust) to join the new organisation around 12-18 months later.

As a result of this plan, it’s such an extremely exciting and challenging period in the delivery of health and social care in Greater Manchester and one that provides a wealth of opportunity. Our new organisation will provide a single hospital service across the city of Manchester and in 12- 18 months will also include the services currently provided by North Manchester General Hospital.  These changes will make a real difference to the health outcomes and quality of life for the people of Manchester. 

Central Manchester NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s largest teaching hospitals. The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital opened in June 2009. It is the largest single site children’s hospital in the UK with 371 beds. The hospital sees 220,000 patient visits each year across a range of specialities including oncology, haematology, metabolic medicine, surgery, critical care and renal medicine.

We are looking for a specialist Paediatric Pharmacist to work at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, with commitment to Francis House, a Children’s Hospice which provides palliative/respite care to children who have been diagnosed with lifelong or life limiting conditions. You must be a pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and have an MPharm degree or equivalent. You should also have a postgraduate diploma or equivalent in hospital/clinical pharmacy.

The ideal candidate will need to be a good team player with a flexible and pragmatic approach to problems as the role will involve working within multidisciplinary teams to provide pharmaceutical services to ensure the safe, effective and economical use of medicines on paediatric wards. You must have previous paediatric experience in a hospital setting and be confident in your clinical skills as you will be working independently and as part of a team. This role involves the provision of specialist pharmaceutical care to paediatric patients on designated wards.

The pharmacy department is a new state of the art build with over 200 members of staff. You will become part of a hard working team of over 60 pharmacists that provide core services to Central Manchester NHS trust. We have strong university links and are a fully integrated team.
