This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced children’s physiotherapist with a passion for rheumatology and chronic pain. This post combines an operational team lead role as well as providing specialist physiotherapy management of children and young people with chronic conditions in collaboration with community colleagues.

As an HCPC registered health professional, you’ll have gained extensive clinical experience with children and young people working in a children’s hospital and/or community setting. Confidence in delivering evidence-based physiotherapy to children and young people with rheumatologic conditions and musculoskeletal problems is essential. You will provide education, advice and support to patients and parents/carers and be able to respond to and resolve complaints effectively using excellent communication skills.

As clinical lead you’ll be responsible for the day to day management, co-ordination and provision of the physiotherapy inpatient and outpatient services for children and young people referred with conditions such as juvenile idiopathic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematous, hypermobility, biomechanical joint pain and chronic pain.

Our physiotherapists work very closely with the multidisciplinary team, giving a holistic approach to care. A qualification in hydrotherapy is desirable and you must be competent to deliver hydrotherapy to children and young people with complex presentations in our state-of-the-art facilities. You will act as the lead clinician for hydrotherapy for the rheumatology..

You’ll be a flexible and resourceful individual assisting with cross cover across the wider children’s physiotherapy service. You will have line management responsibility providing feedback, support and training to junior staff, students and assistants.

You will have a proven track record of leading service developments and quality initiatives. With excellent organisational and problem solving skills you’ll thrive in a busy environment prioritising a busy workload and coping well under pressure.

Participation in the physiotherapy respiratory OR major trauma out of hour’s service is part of the role depending on your knowledge, skills and experience .

There is a comprehensive in-house appraisal system and multiple learning opportunities as the department is actively involved in audit and research. You will be supported by experienced senior colleagues and managers who offer clinical and professional advice and feedback supporting your professional and personal development.
