Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the UK, employing over 20,000 staff.

We are responsible for running a family of nine hospitals across six separate sites, providing a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.

We are the main provider of hospital care to approximately 750,000 people in Manchester and Trafford and the single biggest provider of specialised services in the North West of England. We are also the lead provider for a significant number of specialised services including Breast Care, Vascular, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology Cancer, Paediatrics, Women’s Services, Ophthalmology and Genomic Medicine.

Our vision is to improve the health and quality of life of our diverse population by building an organisation that:

  • Excels in quality, safety, patient experience, research, innovation and teaching
  • Attracts, develops and retains great people
  • Is recognised internationally as a leading healthcare provider

If you are motivated and driven and want to be part of a team who are dedicated to delivering high quality care to patients and their carers then take some time to read through what we have to offer. We are a multidisciplinary team who work closely together and support each other, whilst providing high quality care to our patients. We have 7 operating theatres within the acute theatre suite.

This area is a dynamic department pushing the frontiers of medicine. We specialise in Trauma & Elective Orthopaedics, Emergencies, colorectal and upper GI Surgery. We also have a state of the art hybrid theatre for the care of vascular patients combined with interventional radiology.

The department provides the hospital with excellent 24/7 cover for elective and emergency patient care. We are an institute that offers all opportunities to develop you in both your career and education. We strive to provide excellent standards of evidence based care.

Candidates will be given the opportunity to rotate through our 3 theatre suites to gain exposure to the wide range of theatre experiences available within our trust if desired. In return we deliver an excellent supernumerary orientation and induction programme for all our new starters, individually tailored to your current level of knowledge and experience.

Post-holders will also have access to the MFT - Wythenshawe Hospital Academy and LEAD Training Programme, a unique and innovative concept to develop skillsets, which brings together all of the education and training activities of the MFT under one umbrella. We have an in-house mentorship programme in place affiliated to a well-known university and CPD courses to aid in your development in your role as a practitioner within the organisation.

Our commitment is further reinforced by our robust Trust Nurse Revalidation Programme – offering an e-portfolio and dedicated individual support for registered nurses.
