Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s largest employers, with a wide ranging portfolio of specialty work and a strong academic record. In partnership with The University of Manchester and other collaborators we are rapidly making Manchester the centre of cutting-edge research to improve healthcare worldwide. The Trust has Biomedical Research Centre status awarded by the National Institute of Health Research.

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to spend a year as Clinical Fellow in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at the Manchester Royal Infirmary - a perfect opportunity to gain skills in Adult cardiac anaesthesia, cardiac critical care and transoesophageal echocardiography. This role may also be ideal for advanced trainees in critical care medicine who have an anaesthetic background. You will work in accordance with the GMC Good Medical Practice.

With prior agreement this post may also allow you to become involved in developing new research proposals, extending from the inception of an idea, conducting a literature search, and writing a protocol to submitting ethics and grant applications.

There are also ongoing projects in which you will be involved, with the opportunity to present, write up and publish. You will be expected to attend courses on which you will learn the fundamentals of research methodology as well as systematic review and meta-analysis.
