From 1st October 2017, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) has joined together to create a new Foundation Trust which has been named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

Our new organisation will provide a single hospital service across the city of Manchester and in 12- 18 months will also include the services currently provided by North Manchester General Hospital.  These changes will make a real difference to the health outcomes and quality of life for the people of Manchester.  That’s why this really is an extremely exciting and challenging period in the delivery of health and social care in Greater Manchester and one that provides a wealth career opportunities for great people right across our Group.

This is an exciting time to join Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust with a ‘new era for Greater Manchester’ starting on 1 April 2016, as the region became the first in the country to take control of its combined health and social care budgets – a sum of more than £6 billion. It means that – for the first time – leaders and clinicians will be able to tailor budgets and priorities to directly meet the needs of local communities and improve the health and wellbeing of the 2.8 million residents.

There is an opportunity for two Anaesthetists to provide a service over a wide range of surgical specialties in the new Trust.

The Anaesthesia and Critical Care Directorates based on the Oxford Road and Trafford Hospitals have 94 consultants combined at present and are looking to expand. There are work and rest facilities for both Junior and Senior Medical staff including a library, seminar room, rest/refreshment room, IT facilities and laboratories. The scale of the service enables significant subspecialisation within particular areas of interest and there are a number of Anaesthesia on-call rotas.

In addition there are the benefits of being located near to the facilities of Manchester Medical School and the University.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) was formed on 1st October 2017 following the merger of Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM). The Trust comprises of Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, University Dental Hospital of Manchester, St Mary’s Hospital for Women, The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Trafford General Hospital, Wythenshawe Hospital, Altrincham Hospital and Withington Community Hospital.
