Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the UK, employing over 20,000 staff.

We are responsible for running a family of nine hospitals across six separate sites, providing a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.

We are the main provider of hospital care to approximately 750,000 people in Manchester and Trafford and the single biggest provider of specialised services in the North West of England. We are also the lead provider for a significant number of specialised services including Breast Care, Vascular, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology, Cancer, Paediatrics, Women’s Services, Ophthalmology and Genomic Medicine.

Our vision is to improve the health and quality of life of our diverse population by building an organisation that:

  • Excels in quality, safety, patient experience, research, innovation and teaching
  • Attracts, develops and retains great people
  • Is recognised internationally as a leading healthcare provider

Endoscopy/Anesthetic Nurse: This is an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced anesthetic nurse who is keen to extend their clinical skills and develop professionally.   We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated nurse who would like to gain skills as an endoscopy nurse whilst still continuing to practice their skills as an anesthetic nurse. The role will involve approximately 80% endoscopy work with 20% anesthetic/recovery nursing. This is an opportunity to have the best of both worlds where you can train to gain skills in endoscopy whilst continuing to maintain your anesthetic skills.

We show care for our staff through excellent development and progression opportunities. You will receive extensive education and training from a team of experienced senior nurses. Endoscopy experience is not essential as you will receive training, however we are looking for an experienced anesthetic nurse to complement our team and would welcome applications from motivated and dynamic nurses.

With the exception of an on-call out of hour’s rota, the unit is open Monday to Saturday 7.30 am to 7.30 pm and is therefore ideal for candidates seeking a more friendly work pattern. The endoscopy unit is based in the Treatment & Diagnostic Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital, performing over 11,000 endoscopies each year. We enjoy a national reputation for excellence in medical and nursing innovation, with a culture of interdisciplinary working.

You will join a team where you will receive training and support to become a highly skilled practitioner, undertaking extended roles such as Nurse Consent, IV Cannulation, and supporting the team in ERCP for general anesthetic cases. You will also be funded to complete the gastro-intestinal nursing (GIN) course- a nationally recognised qualification.

Post-holders will also have access to the MFT Academy and LEAD Training Programmes, a unique and innovative concept to develop skillsets, which brings together all of the education and training activities of MFT under one umbrella. Our commitment is further reinforced by our robust Trust Nurse Revalidation Programme – offering an e-portfolio and dedicated individual support. We offer support and a friendly and caring environment in which to work and provide a large number of staff benefits, which you will find listed in the additional information link attached to the vacancy.
