CLINICAL FELLOWS IN CARDIOTHORACIC ANAESTHESIA & / or CARDIOTHORACIC CRITICAL CARE (including ECMO & Transplantation)

The clinical fellow posts in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and critical care are to commence as soon as possible and are available for six months duration in the first instance, renewable for a further six months. The posts represent a superb opportunity to gain experience not only in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and critical care but also in respiratory ECMO (including mobile retrievals), extra-corporeal support for heart and lung transplantation and acute heart failure management. We are one of the North West’s largest teaching hospital trusts and the Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit houses one of only 5 specialist ECMO units in the country. Successful applicants will be supported and encouraged to take advantage of all educational and research opportunities available. Study leave allowance will be in keeping with that of a Specialist Trainee. In addition to providing experience in patient care for an interesting and varied case mix, the post will offer opportunities to be involved in teaching, audit and management in the theatre and critical care setting. FRCA or equivalent and full registration with the General Medical Council is required. ICM trainees are encouraged to apply. The post is part of a full shift rota.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Border Agency requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit UK Border Agency website.
