Due to a review of the management structure in Cellular Pathology at MFT we have a new opportunity for a Lead Biomedical Scientist in Histopathology at the Wythenshawe Hospital site.

To help us do this, we are looking for an enthusiastic and highly skilled HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our team. The Histopathology service at Wythenshawe Hospital receives 45,000 cases per year. It offers a comprehensive service including routine histology (H&Es), post mortem histology, special stains, immunohistochemistry and frozen sections.This is a key position within the Department which the post holder, with the support of the Cellular Pathology Laboratory Manager and in conjunction with the Deputy Head BMS will oversee the day to day organisation of the laboratory service. 

You will have significant expertise in Histopathology and be confident in troubleshooting a range of laboratory equipment and processes. The role requires an understanding and commitment to improving service outcomes through effective integrated working. Self-motivated and driven, you will be responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction and innovative development of the Histopathology Service.

You will have:

• A Masters level qualification in a relevant pathology discipline
• A high level of histopathology experience, skill and expertise
• Experience of managing a histopathology service at a senior level
• Proven experience of contribution to clinical governance processes
• Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills
