Here at MFT, we’re proud to be a large teaching hospitals group, the seventh largest provider of specialised services in England with eight hospitals providing a range of services including community services. At the heart of the regeneration of Manchester, we’re one of Four Trusts involved in the development of the Single Service for Manchester. This means we offer excellent opportunities for our people, particularly consultants.

As a teaching hospital with intrinsic links to the University of Manchester, education and development is in our blood. All new consultants to MFT are invited to our New Consultant Development Programme. The programme includes a series of talks and group based activities with an individual service improvement project. We also offer a Leadership for Excellence programme for clinical leads seeking to further develop their leadership skills.

We are seeking to recruit a Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine to supervise and deliver care to medical patients on the Care of the Elderly Wards and to participate in the Frailty Service at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.

We are an enthusiastic and hard-working team, all with different specialist interests including management, medical education, frailty and intermediate care. We aim to support our colleagues’ specialist skills. We are committed to investing in the roles of our multidisciplinary team and are already well-supported by experienced advanced nurse practitioners and pharmacists.

We are an ambitious and achieving team, with the Elderly Care and Stroke wards achieving Gold status in the Trusts internal ward ratings for environment, patient experience and nursing quality, and are supported by full junior medical teams, therapists and allied health professional.
