Are you registered with the Health Professions Council with qualifications acceptable to the Institute of Biomedical Sciences? Are you a pro-active and forward thinking BMS who can help the Haematology service benefit from the opportunities that Laboratory IT can deliver?

If so then this role might be suitable for you. We are looking for a Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist with specialist Haematology and Transfusion experience.

We are a CPA and IBMS accredited department serving Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, with laboratories at the Oxford road Campus and the Trafford General site, covering many clinical specialities across the two sites. We provide a comprehensive range of Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratory services and specialty diagnostic testing and reference work for leukaemia, haemostasis, thrombosis and haemoglobinopathies at the Oxford Road Campus.

You will have completed a specialist portfolio or its predecessor an HPC log book. Within the role you will be given the chance for personal and continued professional development. We may consider a band 5 Biomedical Scientist preferably with Haematology, Transfusion and Laboratory experience.

You will be required to work at all Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust sites, dependent on the needs of the service. The department requires staff to work shifts that ensure that the continual service needs of the department can be met. To achieve this, you will be required to work within a rotational shift pattern which will include shifts throughout the departments 24 hours a day / 7 days per week service. Shift patterns will be determined by your line manager and you are required to work your contracted hours as and when necessary to meet the service needs of the department.
