If you are interested in an important and challenging role within the NHS then we are currently looking for a suitably qualified administrator to join our expanding Heart Failure team.

We are looking for someone who is able to work accurately and methodically, meet deadlines, show attention to detail, work as part of a team but use their own initiative, be able to work with all types of people and be helpful and reassuring when dealing with patients.

You will need to be flexible and proactive, able to respond and adapt to the varying demands and changing circumstances of a busy service. Resilience is an important quality to succeed in this role as is the ability to plan and organise workloads in response to the new and competing priorities of the service.

A key function of this role is to create and maintain effective working relationships at all levels both internally and externally therefore enhanced communication skills are essential.

Applicants should have at least 2 years of admin experience and excellent keyboard skills. Knowledge of medical terminology and NHS experience is an advantage but not essential as training will be given.  The role is busy and varied and includes:

Filing of clinic notes, correspondence and test results

Administration of clinics Maintain patient information on database Dealing with telephone enquiries and written enquiries promptly General administration duties such as faxing, photocopying and mailing letters.

Typing priorities/urgent

Timely processing of referrals/investigations/correspondence

Clinic management – reduction/cancellation in line with on call rota and leave – consultant and registrar

Dealing with queries from patients/colleagues either – phone, email, letter

Providing robust admin process for medical and specialist nurse team

Notes management

Strong time management/job plan – organised workload/schedule

Flexible, adaptable and acceptable to change

Willing to learn to new processes, systems and skills

Willing to take direction – seeing it as a positive learning curve

The post holder must be able to use their own initiative, work under pressure, keep to strict deadlines and have excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills. Experience of any of the following patient databases and software is extremely beneficial: Winscribe, Lorenzo, ICE.

The role is full time – 37.5 hour per week

Hours 7.5 per day Monday – Friday

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
