An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Advanced Biomedical Scientist in the Paediatric Histopathology department at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). Applications are invited from experienced and suitably qualified, dynamic and enthusiastic staff for the above post.

You will be joining our friendly and highly motivated team that deliver a specialist Paediatric service with a full range of clinical diagnostic Cellular Pathology services including Immunohistochemistry and Muscle Enzymehistochemistry.

The department works alongside Molecular Genetics and offers genetic and molecular testing to compliment both histological diagnosis and research.

We also participate in research trials and studies and the successful applicant will be expected to be involved in the management and organisation of these projects.

The successful applicant will be educated to Masters Level or equivalent and have key skills and abilities with leadership and strategy. They must demonstrate advanced knowledge of Cellular Pathology, and have advanced technical competence for histology. Previous experience in Paediatric Histopathology would be advantageous but not essential.

Experience of quality management systems and an enhanced understanding of all quality aspects including ISO 15189 standards is essential; the successful applicant must be conscientious and enthusiastic and able to work well as part of a team and/or autonomously.

Paediatric Histology is part of the Directorate of Laboratory Medicine at MFT, this includes Adult Histology and Cytology and is one of the two identified pathology hubs for Greater Manchester.
