Our new organisation will provide a single hospital service across the city of Manchester, where these changes will make a real difference to the health outcomes and quality of life for the communities we serve. 


Post 1 – Consultant Histopathologist based at MRI (8 PAs)

We are seeking to appoint a committed Consultant Histopathologist to join our experienced and highly motivated team at Manchester Royal infirmary.  It is intended that this 0.8 WTE replacement post will primarily contribute to the gynaecological and renal pathology sub-specialist services but there will be opportunity to contribute to other sub-specialist services according to the experience of the candidate and the needs of the department.


Post 2 – Consultant Histopathologist based at Wythenshawe (10 PAs)

The ideal appointee will work in line with the current needs of the department – areas of current primary need include cardiothoracic and head & neck pathology.  The ideal candidate will contribute to 2 or 3 subspecialties to provide flexibility and adequate cover. This is a new post primarily based at Wythenshawe Hospital although sessional work may be required at Manchester Royal Infirmary in accordance with strategic re-organisation of local pathology services.

 Applicants should hold the FRCPath or an equivalent qualification and have demonstrated expertise within a specialist area of Histopathology (complementary to the existing interests of the Department.

The successful candidate will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
