An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a senior biomedical scientist. If you are suitably qualified with appropriate experience then consider working for the Greater Manchester Immunology Service.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is the leading Trust for teaching, research and specialist services in the North West of England.

We are the first immunology department in the UK to hold UKAS/ISO 15189 accreditation and have continually expanded our scope and repertoire of tests to become one of the biggest regional immunology centres in the country. The department is constantly evolving; we are in the process of implementing a managed service contract for new equipment and pre-analytics as well as being at the forefront of electronic requesting and reporting both to GPs and clinicians. The department is about to step up another gear to assist in the implementation of the Haematological Cancer Diagnostic Partnership for Greater Manchester and this post is a great opportunity for individuals with appropriate skills to contribute to this new service.

Working as one of four senior biomedical scientists you’ll provide scientific expertise, assist with the management of a section of our laboratory and the development and expansion of the diagnostic repertoire. This is a challenging role that will enable you to develop and widen your technical, managerial and supervisory skills.

To apply, you should be a HCPC registered biomedical scientist with FIBMS, MSc or equivalent. You will have prior experience in immunology, ideally in autoimmunity, allergy, immunochemistry, cellular investigations including flow cytometry and immunophenotyping.

Moreover, you should be ambitious and keen to develop your skills.

In return we will provide a comprehensive induction programme and you will be appraised on a yearly basis with a view to developing knowledge and skills where appropriate.
