Chief Biomedical Scientist

Are you a suitably qualified Biomedical Scientist? Then consider joining our immunology team.

The Greater Manchester Immunology Service (GMIS) provides a service to clinicians and general practitioners within Greater Manchester and the North West. We’re the first immunology lab in the UK to hold UKAS/ISO 15189 accreditation. We’re also the first Immunology team to successfully implement a Multiplex (BioPlex) testing system and we are at the forefront of electronic requesting and reporting both to GPs and clinicians.

The department is constantly evolving and is in the process of implementing a managed service contract for new equipment and pre-analytics. Working as one of three chief biomedical scientists you’ll provide a high quality scientific service; assist with the management of the daily operations of our laboratory and the strategic development of the department. This is a challenging role that will enable you to develop and widen your technical, managerial and supervisory skills.

To apply, you should be a HCPC registered biomedical scientist with FIBMS, MSc or equivalent. You will have considerable experience in immunology and recent experience in a supervisory capacity. Moreover, you should be ambitious, a natural leader and familiar with current NHS and management issues. In return we will provide a comprehensive induction programme and you will be appraised on a yearly basis with a view to developing knowledge and skills where appropriate.
