Following on from the success of the 2016 Lung Health Check Screening Pilot led by Wythenshawe Hospital, (previously known as University Hospital of South Manchester, UHSM) and with demonstrable key results in the early detection and treatment of lung cancers, a further phase of this work has been by Manchester Health and Care Commissioning (MHCC) to carry out the Lung Health Check for the deprived North Manchester population, with the anticipation to significantly improve health outcomes for smoker and ex-smokers between the ages of 55-80.

The Regional Thoracic Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital is leading this new Programme.

The new Programme is led by Dr Richard Booton (Programme Director), Ailsa Rowlands (Programme Manager) and is supported by Radiology (Dr Anna Sharman, Lead Radiologist), Specialist Nurses (Kath Hewitt, Lead Thoracic Nurse) and Administrators.
