We are responsible for running a family of nine hospitals across six separate sites, providing a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.

We are the main provider of hospital care to approximately 750,000 people in Manchester and Trafford and the single biggest provider of specialised services in the North West of England. We are also the lead provider for a significant number of specialised services including Breast Care, Vascular, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology, Cancer, Paediatrics, Women’s Services, Ophthalmology and Genomic Medicine.

Our vision is to improve the health and quality of life of our diverse population by building an organisation that:

  • Excels in quality, safety, patient experience, research, innovation and teaching
  • Attracts, develops and retains great people
  • Is recognised internationally as a leading healthcare provider

Wythenshawe Hospital is looking for full time, 37.5 hours per week, enthusiastic radiographer to work in MR scanning. You should have proven basic MRI imaging skills and the ability to work flexibly over 7 days in 12 hour shifts.

If you have a proven aptitude for MRI and would like the opportunity to expand your clinical scanning skills, then we can offer the successful candidate exposure to high level, complex scanning techniques

Training will be provided in advanced aspects of MR scanning. Successful applicants will form part of the MR scanning team and will be expected to follow direction from the senior MR radiographer responsible for the daily scanning workload.

We use a Siemens Aera 1.5T wide bore scanner and the department is ergonomically designed to maximise patient throughput.

We undertake a wide range of examinations, including vascular, gynaecological, GU, gastro, neurological and muscular skeletal. Training will be given for more complex or department specific scans. You will also gain experience in breast biopsy, paediatric GA scanning and complex vascular scanning techniques.

MFT is committed to staff development and currently we are supporting radiographer reporting of MR musculoskeletal examinations.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
