The Directorate Manager is responsible, in conjunction with the Clinical Directors and Quality and Safety Leads, for the strategic, financial and operational management of all patient services within the Anaesthesia and the Pain Service. The role is to deliver all operational, financial and clinical targets and standards. Key to the post will be ensuring effective rota management in Anaesthesia to enable the Trust to achieve access targets as well as managing the RTT pathways in the Pain Service. The post is to ensure the delivery of financial balance, trading gap plans, and in conjunction with clinical colleagues improving the standards of care within the Department.

The post holder will provide leadership and strategic direction in conjunction with the Clinical Leads. The post holder will work closely with the Divisional Director, Group Clinical Director, Quality and Safety Director, Clinical Directors and other Directorate Managers, Directors and Corporate Directors to achieve the Trust’s corporate objectives and will be expected to make a positive contribution to the delivery of health services across the local health community and relevant networks.

The post holder will also be responsible for leading and delivering success across a number of key programmes within the Division including Peri-Operative Medicine, Pain and Patient Experience. The programmes will be vital in ensuring the Division can deliver its primary objectives and targets over the coming years and will encompass a wide range of topics, including productivity and efficiency, quality, workforce and clinical effectiveness.
