From 1st October 2017, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) has joined together to create a new Foundation Trust which has been named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

To help us reach our goal, we’re looking to appoint a committed and passionate Chief of Staff. 


Working within our Medical Director Corporate Division, you will support our Medical Directors as they continue to drive up standards and position MFT as a beacon of clinical excellence, making the best use of resources. As such, you will help put into action and monitor the effectiveness of our strategies and the quality of service we provide. Seeking to drive productivity, effectiveness and delivery of the highest standards, you will take responsibility for implementing a number of priority medical projects. The portfolio of work in the Division is hugely diverse ranging from all matters relating to medical and dental staff, clinical governance and risk management to education and training, along with research and Innovation.  Your operational leadership will be a critical component in fostering a culture of continuous improvement through your experience & knowledge,  and identifying the best way to tackle any barriers to progress. Crucially, you will also support our development initiatives, helping us to define and construct a pipeline of medical excellence and talent that will support the needs of our local community and beyond.


This is a particularly important role to ensure the future success of our nine hospital sites, so you will need to have at least five years of experience in an operational management capacity within an acute NHS Trust. Confident working with external organisations such as NHSE, NHSI, GMHSCP, GMC, CQC and CCGs, you will have exceptional leadership and line management skills, with the capacity to support the development of our workforce. Financially savvy, you will be able to manage a budget and prioritise the use of resources. You will also have the communication capabilities required to conduct presentations and produce board-level reports and briefings.
