Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is the leading Trust for teaching, research and specialist services in the North West of England.

An opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join MFT Medical Engineering and Maintenance (MEAM) Team, providing medical device maintenance support throughout the Trust’s Hospital and Community sites.

Our department is accredited to the ISO9001:2015 Quality Standard and is responsible for the management of all types of reusable medical device. You will be undertaking planned and on-demand maintenance of medical devices within specialised teams throughout the Trusts hospitals.

The varied and interesting work includes ensuring efficient and timely maintenance and repair of equipment, keeping accurate records, and dealing with clients on a range of medical device management issues. You will be expected to be the face of MEAM when in contact with our clients. You are are expected to have knowledge of basic scientific and engineering principles along with awareness of Health and Safety legislation.

You will be mainly based at workshops in the Manchester Royal Infirmary but will need to be flexible as you will also be working at various Hospitals and Community Sites throughout Greater Manchester. You will need to have a logical and methodical approach to your work. You will need to be able to work as part of a team or on our own initiative and have good interpersonal and communication skills.

The current positions available are for Band 4 Junior Medical Technical Officer and Band 5 Medical Technical Officer.  Applicants will be considered for both grades.

In return we will provide a comprehensive induction programme and you will be appraised on a yearly basis with a view to developing knowledge and skills where appropriate.
