Applications are invited for the post of full time Clinical Fellow in Infection for a period of ten months (with possibility of extension), commencing as soon as possible.

 The successful candidate will work jointly with the Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases teams, based at Wythenshawe Hospital which is part of the Manchester University Foundation Trust.

 The duties of the post include:

 To contribute to excellent clinical care as part of the Infection Department at Wythenshawe Hospital

  • To support the routine work of the Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Department including; clinical liaison with general medical and surgical wards, ward infection consultations, laboratory diagnosis and infection prevention.
  • There will be opportunities to support the OPAT and other clinics as appropriate.
  • Some undergraduate and postgraduate teaching will be expected.
  • Where appropriate, bench work familiarisation/training in the laboratory will be provided.

The post is suitable for doctors considering a career in Microbiology or Infectious Diseases, Acute Medicine or General Practice.  We will also consider applications from suitably qualified clinical scientists with a proven track record and interest in the clinical aspects of medical microbiology/infection for this position.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required. 

Please note that this post does not carry Postgraduate Deans approval or training recognition However, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to be included in the North West Deanery Speciality Registrar teaching programme, scheduled fortnightly.
