From 1st October 2017, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) has joined together to create a new Foundation Trust which has been named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest microbiology departments in the North West. The Manchester Medical Microbiology Partnership (MMMP) is collaboration between Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Public Health England.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is the leading Trust for teaching, research and specialist services in the North West of England.

The microbiology delivered from the Manchester Royal Infirmary site employs over 90 staff and has a workload in excess of 600,000 specimens. The department embraces all aspects of a modern clinical bacteriology service combining traditional methodologies with laboratory automation. It has a friendly atmosphere with good team spirit.

The scope of this role is to ensure the organisation and delivery of a coordinated and responsive microbiology specimen reception service in a manner consistent with trust and local policies, procedures and protocols. Duties will include supporting the administration and management of the specimen reception service, staff supervision and training. You will work within microbiology to optimise the pre-analytical phases of service delivery to become a positive member of the team and in the function of service provision.

The laboratory is accredited by CPA/UKAS and we actively encourage CPD activities.

The department requires staff to support the department in delivering a comprehensive Microbiology service over 7 days.

In return we will provide a comprehensive induction programme and you will be appraised on a yearly basis with a view to developing knowledge and skills where appropriate.
