Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the UK, employing over 20,000 staff.

We are responsible for running a family of nine hospitals across six separate sites, providing a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.

We are the main provider of hospital care to approximately 750,000 people in Manchester and Trafford and the single biggest provider of specialised services in the North West of England. We are also the lead provider for a significant number of specialised services including Breast Care, Vascular, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology Cancer, Paediatrics, Women’s Services, Ophthalmology and Genomic Medicine.

Our vision is to improve the health and quality of life of our diverse population by building an organisation that:

  • Excels in quality, safety, patient experience, research, innovation and teaching
  • Attracts, develops and retains great people
  • Is recognised internationally as a leading healthcare provider

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated assistant practitioner to join our experienced nursing team at both the Oxford Road and Wythenshawe neonatal units.

This is a really exciting time to join our team - we’ve recently established our neonatal managed clinical service following the merger of two highly successful neonatal units with the founding of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, the first step toward creating a single hospital service for the people of Manchester.

The Division now comprises the NICU on the Oxford Road campus, the neonatal unit at Wythenshawe, Community Outreach service and is the host for the Connect NW neonatal transport service. As a managed clinical service across two sites, this provides us with a real and unique opportunity to ensure the delivery of high quality, standardised care to the infants and families of both central and south Manchester.

We are looking to appoint assistant practitioners to support our registered nurses with the care of babies requiring additional levels of care on both of our neonatal units

With a Foundation degree in health and social care or equivalent, you must have a commitment to delivering high quality care centred around the whole family, have excellent communication and organisational skills and be flexible and reliable. Forward-thinking and open-minded, treating families and colleagues with respect, having real empathy and consideration – all these traits are key, what’s more, you’ll be proud to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of the infants and families within your care.

So, if you’re keen to develop your knowledge of neonatal care, there’s never been a better time to join our supportive team and we would really like to hear from you
