Applicants are invited to apply for 6-12 month fixed term post at St Mary’s Hospital in Manchester. There are 2 posts available with immediate start dates.

This post is ideally suited to post CCT anaesthetists planning a career in obstetric anaesthesia or candidates working towards an advanced module in obstetric anaesthesia. Applicants with less experience are also encouraged to apply if they have an interest in obstetric anaesthesia and wish to further develop their obstetric anaesthetic portfolio.

The appointee will benefit from working in a large, cohesive, tertiary referral unit. There are extensive opportunities for research and we will support the appointee with time and supervision. There is excellent opportunity to further develop a teaching portfolio for both undergraduates and postgraduates. The appointee will also have the opportunity to participate in multi-disciplinary simulation.

Clinical work will be based in our 19-bedded consultant led delivery unit, obstetric theatres and antenatal clinic. As a tertiary referral unit for many specialties including haematology, hypertensive and renal disease, morbidly adherent placenta and cardiology, the applicant will increase their knowledge and experience in all these areas .

Salary will be on the speciality registrar (StR) pay scale which ranges from £30,605 to £48,123 per annum. 

Hours will be 48 on average per week (40 plus average 8 hours on-call per week)
