Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the UK, employing over 20,000 staff.

We are responsible for running a family of nine hospitals across six separate sites, providing a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.

We are the main provider of hospital care to approximately 750,000 people in Manchester and Trafford and the single biggest provider of specialised services in the North West of England. We are also the lead provider for a significant number of specialised services including Breast Care, Vascular, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology Cancer, Paediatrics, Women’s Services, Ophthalmology and Genomic Medicine.

Our vision is to improve the health and quality of life of our diverse population by building an organisation that:

  • Excels in quality, safety, patient experience, research, innovation and teaching
  • Attracts, develops and retains great people
  • Is recognised internationally as a leading healthcare provider

This post offers the opportunity to become part of a new and innovative health care economy. The Trust recently merged with Central Manchester Foundation Trust on October 1st 2017 making Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) the leading provider of tertiary and specialist healthcare services in Manchester.

This post offers the successful applicant the opportunity to practise Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Wythenshawe Hospital, part of the St Mary’s Managed Clinical Service.

This is a three month locum post as a resident consultant with general duties in obstetrics and gynaecology to start with immediate effect with a possibility of extension of 3 months after the duration period. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team and develop our service. Previous experience at Consultant level is desirable but not essential. Great care has been taken to ensure that there is appropriate access to professional development opportunities. To maximise both the quality of care for women, and the professional development opportunities for consultants, it may be expected that the successful candidate will work across two sites. However, it is expected that there will be no need to travel between sites in the same day. A flexible approach will be required of the successful applicant to suit the evolving health care landscape in Manchester.
