From 1st October 2017, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) has joined together to create a new Foundation Trust which has been named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated individual to join the Manchester University Hospitals Medical Engineering and Maintenance Team (MEAM), providing supervisory and management support to the administrative team and providing administrative support for the Service Level Agreements and Contracts for medical device maintenance and management across the Trust.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is the leading Trust for teaching, research and specialist services in the North West of England.

Based within the MEAM department on the MRI site you will report to and directly work with the Contracts Manager and Operational Manager for MEAM, supporting and driving forward the administrative, device management and contracts processes and strategies.

You will directly manage two members of staff who provide support and administrative duties for the day to day clerical and stock management of the busy Medical Engineering Department.

You will be mainly based in the Manchester Royal Infirmary but will need to be flexible as you may also be working at various Hospitals and Community Sites throughout Greater Manchester. You will need to have a logical and methodical approach to your work, as well as the relevant qualifications and practical working experience we will be looking for a good understanding of the NHS. You will need to be able to work as part of a team and other teams and having excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. As is the ability to work under pressure at times and deliver high quality work within agreed timescales.

As well as previous experience of supervising or managing staff in an administrative environment, you will have a good standard of education and an excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite. Proactive with strong organisational, team working and communication skills you must also have the ability to manage priorities for yourself and others appropriately. 

You’ll need to be able to communicate effectively with a range of people at all levels, you’ll work both individually and as part of a teams, help develop procedures but also work independently with initiative.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • An ability to build and maintain good relationships;
  • Good prioritisation skills;
  • High proficiency in IMT, able to support paperless/lite working;
  • Ability to work on your own initiative, organise workload and time effectively;
  • A proactive, positive and flexible attitude; and
  • An interest in further development.
