As part of providing ophthalmic services in the local community applications are invited from enthusiastic qualified/trainee nursing assistants to join the ophthalmic team you will be based on the Macular Treatment Centre at South Manchester

As a Nursing Assistant you will be a key member of our nursing team providing support with our registered nurses to patients and families. You will work alongside the Macular team running clinics and performing visual acuities and assisting in diagnostic procedures. We are looking for a qualified/ trainee nursing assistant. You will be expected to complete an apprenticeship programme in Clinical Healthcare Support (level 2 diploma). We will provide you with a comprehensive induction programme and you will be fully supported ‘on the job’ to complete the apprenticeship programme.

The apprenticeship programme is fully funded by the Trust and consists of a 12 month programme of intensive training in order to prepare you for the role of a qualified Nursing Assistant. On successful completion of the programme you will have attained a level 2 diploma in healthcare support, which consists of achievement of an NVQ (now known as QCF diploma), a BTEC certificate and level 1 or 2 in English and Maths (equivalent to 5 GCSE’s).

Applicants on the 12 month apprenticeship will be paid at £14,665.50 per annum and will progress to Band 2 £15,404 per annum upon successful completion.

Staff will be required to support our macular services on the main MREH site, Trafford and North Manchester should the need arise.
