We are also the lead provider for a significant number of specialised services including Breast Care, Vascular, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology, Cancer, Paediatrics, Women’s Services, Ophthalmology and Genomic Medicine.

Our vision is to improve the health and quality of life of our diverse population by building an organisation that:

  • Attracts, develops and retains great people
  • Is recognised internationally as a leading healthcare provider

Applications are invited for a 10 PA post in Paediatric Neurosurgery  based at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.  The successful candidate will join a dynamic paediatric neurosurgery department composed of 5 Consultant Paediatric Neurosurgeons.

The Manchester Paediatric Neurosurgery Service provides tertiary level care for children with neurosurgical disorders throughout the North West of England. This is achieved through a region-wide PICU retrieval service for acute emergencies, a dedicated paediatric neuroscience inpatient facility on ward 78 and outpatient services provided at RMCH and through a network of outreach clinics across the region.

The team deliver a wide range of highly specialised and complex neurosurgical services, for example Neuro-oncology including neurosurgical support for the National Proton Therapy Service, Children’s Epilepsy Surgical Service, Complex Spine, Paediatric Neurovascular, Foetal Management, Craniofacial and Trauma services.

In addition to the challenges of the role, we can offer you a commitment to teaching, education, research and audit. The post-holder will have experience in all areas of paediatric neurosurgery but will have a keen interest in developing a sub-speciality interest in neuro-oncology. The successful candidate  will be on, or eligible to join, the Specialist Register for Neurosurgery, within 6 months of the Appointments Committee.
