We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic dietitian to join our Paediatric service as both a dietetic team leader and clinical specialist dietetic lead within Royal Manchester Children’s hospital (RMCH).

RMCH is a tertiary Children’s Hospital that provides regional and supra-regional services to include most dietetic clinical paediatric specialties. We are based in a 371 bed, purpose built hospital in the centre of Manchester, and are continuing to expand and develop our paediatric dietetic service to reflect state of the art facilities in the largest single-site children’s hospital in the UK.

Dietetics is a well-recognised and respected service and we form part of most multi-disciplinary clinical teams.

Our paediatric dietetic service is supported by a professional paediatric dietetic lead with;
• 5 x B8a clinical specialist / paediatric dietetic team leads
• 17 x B7 paediatric dietitians
• 10 x B6 paediatric dietitians
• 4 x paediatric dietetic assistant
• Special Feeds Unit
• Administrative support

The job plan for our current 8a post holder is;
• Dietetic team lead ;
Working alongside our other 3 Dietetic team leads to together provide operational management, supervision and leadership across the RMCH Managed clinical service paediatric dietetic team.


• Clinical specialist dietitian.
Leading a highly specialist paediatric dietetic service - this will involve working at an expert level in a designated clinical area.
You will be directly involved in the clinical decision making process as part of the  multidisciplinary team, providing appropriate advice and education to families and colleagues to promote optimal management in this challenging group of patients. You will also support the learning and development of the RMCH band 7/6 dietitians

Recent significant clinical experience in acute paediatric dietetics in a specialised area is essential, as is a comprehensive paediatric dietetic knowledge base together with evidence of post registration dietetic CPD and training (e.g. Paediatric Masters Modules ).

Excellent communication skills with an understanding and strong commitment to multi-disciplinary team working are essential. You will need to demonstrate insight into the challenges of managing infants, children and young people with a chronic condition. You will be expected to represent the dietetic service on a local and national level .
