We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic experienced Assistant Medical Secretary to provide comprehensive administrative support to consultants and other clinical staff within the Reproductive Medicine Department in Saint Mary's Hospital.

The successful candidate will also be the point of contact for fertility preservation referrals and will liaise with clinical staff and patients to coordinate their appointments and keep a tracker of the patients. This is a busy department and therefore you will need to be able to prioritise and deal with interruptions.

You will be educated to GCSE English, have good all round administration skills, excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills with customer service experience and have excellent IT skills with a working knowledge of MS Office, in particular Word and Excel, have a good standard of general education, and experience of secretarial/typing duties.

The Department of Reproductive Medicine at Saint Mary's Hospital was the first fully-NHS funded IVF unit in the UK and provides the full range of infertility services to the North West of England.

Each year the Department provides more than 1,000 cycles of in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment, 400 cycles of replacement of cryopreserved embryos and 100 cycles of insemination with husband sperm (IUI) and donor sperm (DI).

The range of clinical services also include cryopreservation of sperm, embryos and ovarian tissue and treatment of couples with donated eggs and embryos.

Our Andrology laboratory provides diagnostic clinical pathology services, one of the largest long term sperm banks for cancer patients in the UK, and also houses the UK's national external quality assurance schemes (UK NEQAS) in semen analysis.

The work of the Department is regulated and licensed by UK statutory bodies including the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) and Clinical Pathology Accreditation (CPA). The Department operates to the EU Cells and Tissues Directive 2007, including provision of clean-air facilities for IVF and a full Quality Management system.

Although this post will be based in the Department of Reproductive Medicine you can be moved to any part of the division as required.
