Advert - Senior Clinical Research Nurse – Band 6

Fixed term position for 12 months

Are you dynamic, patient-centred & self-motivated? Are you an experienced nurse looking for a new and exciting challenge? Why not consider joining the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN) Greater Manchester’s Core Team to support local NHS Trust teams in delivering NHS research to patients across the region.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic registered nurse level 1 with proven clinical experience who is capable of contributing to the support and development of research within the CRN Greater Manchester.

The role is interesting, variable and totally different from many other research nurse roles, in that whilst the post is based at Manchester University Hospitals NHS Trust (Oxford Road campus), you will be assigned to work with any of the research teams across our network (including Acute, secondary and primary care/community services), depending on where support is most needed. You must, therefore, be willing and able to travel between sites.

You will take a proactive approach to managing clinical research studies including developing study procedures and practice, gaining consent and recruiting patients, alongside clinical duties including providing the highest quality patient care and collecting samples.
You will be instrumental in implementing study objectives and will provide dedicated support to ensure that studies are delivered to time and target. You will need to facilitate the feasibility, set up and management of suitable research studies and identify and recruit participants within the relevant organisations. You will be a point of contact for study principal investigators, sponsors and patients and so effective communication and team working skills are essential. You will be involved in ensuring that research undertaken safeguards the well-being of patients and is undertaken within Good Clinical Practice Guidelines.

In this instance, we are prioritising extensive clinical experience (including phlebotomy and intravenous drug administration, and some clinical management experience). However, we stress that shortlisting will be carried out according to the person specification, so please construct your personal statement accordingly when applying.

If you are a level 1 Registered Nurse with a positive attitude to ensuring research participants receive the best possible care, we'd love to hear from you. Comprehensive induction, orientation and training will be provided for successful candidates. We will also ensure that you have tailored, individual personal development plans with support for further training.
