From 1st October 2017, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) has joined together to create a new Foundation Trust which has been named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

This extremely exciting and challenging period in the delivery of health care in Greater Manchester provides a wealth of career opportunities for great people. Right now, we are seeking a new Divisional Clinical Head for Laboratory Medicine to join us in CSS.  

You’ll be accountable for every aspect of your Division’s performance - from quality and safety, operational KPIs to financial management.

A sense of vision and direction will be as important as an openness to collaboration. Working closely with the Divisional Director and senior clinical professionals, you’ll ensure that patients benefit from safe and effective services at all times.  All will look to you for leadership while providing you with excellent support. You’ll provide clear leadership to the Division’s whole senior management team, while facilitating the delivery of objectives in partnership with colleagues.

Taking the lead on clinical governance, you’ll see that appropriate arrangements and outcomes are in place. Crucially, you will also play an active role in developing the medical workforce and supporting medical education activities. These will be just a few of your vital responsibilities.

You should have extensive experience as a clinical leader within the field of Laboratory Medicine in an NHS institution or Foundation Trust. What’s more, you should be able to demonstrate your skills and competence in clinical engagement processes, have influenced thinking and opinions, and developed clinical governance systems.  Experience of strategic reviews, service development and strategic planning is equally important. Naturally, you’ll bring to the role a detailed and specialised knowledge of health policy and NHS processes within the field of Laboratory Medicine . It’s your ability to engage, influence, negotiate and forge strong partnerships that really sets you apart.
