Are you an experienced Nursing assistant or looking to train as a nursing assistant with a flexible approach with the drive to work in a first-class progressive theatre? Then consider a move to our team at St Mary’s Hospital.

An expanding tertiary referral centre for gynae-oncology, gynae-urology, endometriosis, IVF and obstetrics, we’re part of a long-established hospital, well regarded for its excellence in providing women's healthcare. We’re also part of Central Manchester University Hospitals Foundation Trust, one of the largest UK teaching hospitals which serves the population of Greater Manchester and the North West. Constantly looking to ensure we successfully meet the challenges faced in today's NHS, we pride ourselves on our ability to maintain, sustain, grow and respond to ever changing healthcare services.

As a key member of our committed and talented team, you’ll need the ability to work flexibly to support service level requirements and to adapt to changes in the NHS. It’s also vital that you’re a team player with a focus on service delivery and a demonstrable commitment to high quality. Training for workers in the peri-operative area will need to be undertaken if not already undertaken.

Applicants who do not hold the NVQ level 2 qualification in health and social care will start on the apprenticeship programme. The programme is fully funded by the Trust and consists of a 12 month programme of intensive training in order to prepare you for the role of a qualified nursing assistant. On successful completion of the programme you will have attained a level 2 diploma in healthcare support, which consists of achievement of an NVQ (now known as QCF diploma), a BTEC certificate and level 1 or 2 in English and Maths (equivalent to 5 GCSE’s).

Applicants on the 12 month apprenticeship will be paid at £14,665 per annum and will progress to Band 2 £15,404 - £18,157 per annum upon successful completion. If you are already qualified you will commence at the bottom of Band 2 £15,404 per annum.

In return for your dedication, you’ll benefit from in-house training to develop your core competencies, together with opportunities to undertake further courses in support of your ongoing development. There will also be opportunities to undertake additional courses after 12 months in the role through your personal development plan.
