Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the UK, employing over 20,000 staff.

We are responsible for running a family of nine hospitals across six separate sites, providing a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.

We are the main provider of hospital care to approximately 750,000 people in Manchester and Trafford and the single biggest provider of specialised services in the North West of England. We are also the lead provider for a significant number of specialised services including Breast Care, Vascular, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology Cancer, Paediatrics, Women’s Services, Ophthalmology and Genomic Medicine.

Our vision is to improve the health and quality of life of our diverse population by building an organisation that:

  • Excels in quality, safety, patient experience, research, innovation and teaching
  • Attracts, develops and retains great people
  • Is recognised internationally as a leading healthcare provider

If you are motivated and driven and want to be part of a team who are dedicated to delivering high quality care to patients and their carers then take some time to read through what we have to offer. We are a multidisciplinary team who work closely together and support each other, whilst providing high quality care to our patients.

We recruit staff that are open, honest and focused on striving for excellence, having built an enviable international reputation on five unwavering principles for clinical excellence, research and development, teaching, learning and for treating patients with compassion, respect and dignity.

Based at Trafford General Hospital, the Manchester Orthopaedic Centre provides specialist elective orthopaedic surgery, delivering a wide range of orthopaedic services across Trafford, Salford and Manchester as part of the WTWA hospital group, MFT.

We have a wide variety of orthopaedic procedures and work with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team. The department is also a specialist centre for Sarcoma Surgery and undertakes a wide range of arthroscopic surgery, including hip arthroscopy. And, right now, we're looking for an experienced and enthusiastic team leader to join our dynamic team.

On the Trafford site we have five dedicated orthopaedic theatres that are used for both elective and non-elective procedures. A number of specialities operate from Trafford’s general theatre suite and the successful candidate will be given the opportunity to rotate through the different areas to gain exposure if they desire. Shift patterns are generally between the hours of 8am and 7:30pm

We deliver an excellent supernumerary orientation and induction programme for all our new starters, individually tailored to your current level of knowledge and experience. We provide in-house support for all staff through the support of experienced scrub practitioners and in-house Practice Based Educator (PBE).

Post-holders will also have access to the LEAD Training Programme, a unique and innovative concept to develop skillsets, which brings together all of the education and training activities of the hospital under one umbrella. We have an in-house mentorship programme in place affiliated to a well-known university and CPD courses to aid in your development in your role as a practitioner within the organisation.
