Right now, we’re looking for dedicated, efficient but above all hugely caring Trainee Health Care Support Workers to join our teams at our Wythenshawe Hospital site.

With a passion for helping others and an ability to demonstrate compassion and empathy in your approach to caring for our patients, your support and ‘hands on’ work will offer not only our patients a more positive and reassuring hospital stay, but you; great job satisfaction in knowing your dedication and commitment has made a real difference to both your ward but fundamentally the people you’re caring for. We have posts in a number of Ward areas.

At the heart of the ward, you’ll form a vital part of the team at the forefront of delivering direct care to our patients by communicating effectively and with compassion and assisting them with their personal needs and mobility, supporting with eating and drinking and recording observations. Don’t be daunted by all of this if you’re coming with no care experience as a fully supported training programme will be provided for you.

You must be; Passionate about delivering the best patient centred care to this most complex group of patients.

If you are interested but do not have the relevant qualification (Level 2 NVQ or Apprenticeship in Care) then don’t worry we can support a trainee post and are committed to developing our staff as we have a committed and dedicated education team.

The apprenticeship programme is fully funded by the Trust and consists of a 12-18 month programme of intensive training in order to prepare you for the role of a Qualified Nursing Assistant. On successful completion of the programme you will have attained an Apprenticeship as a healthcare support worker and level 1 or 2 in English and Maths.

You will need to have:

  • Excellent communication skills – in particular listening skills
  • To pass initial assessments in English and Maths at Entry Level 3 and above as part of the recruitment process
  • A friendly, open, empathetic and compassionate communication style
  • A strong ability to engage with patients, visitors and colleagues
  • The ability to work well in a team

The salary for a Trainee Nursing Assistant is £15,310 per annum and upon successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, the salary for a Qualified Nursing Assistant starts at £17,460 per annum.
