From 1st October 2017, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) has joined together to create a new Foundation Trust which has been named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

Our new organisation will provide a single hospital service across the city of Manchester and in 12- 18 months will also include the services currently provided by North Manchester General Hospital.  These changes will make a real difference to the health outcomes and quality of life for the people of Manchester.  That’s why this really is an extremely exciting and challenging period in the delivery of health and social care in Greater Manchester and one that provides a wealth career opportunities for great people right across our Group.

Due to a service reconfiguration we have a vacancy for a motivated experienced Biomedical Scientist to manage the non gynaecological cytology services at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

This portfolio includes the management of the of the EBUS, EUS, Head and Neck and other FNA services across the central and satellite services as well as another leading cancer service NHS Trust.

Significant experience in non gynaecological cytology specialty is a requirement and the appointee will need to draw on extensive experience leading and managing services and contracts in collaboration with the Cellular Pathology Laboratory Manager.

This is an exciting time in the development and expansion of our services as we are a leading non gynaecological cytology service and affiliated with the North of England Pathology and Screening Education Centre. We are one of only a few centres in the UK who provide rapid on site evaluation and diagnoses at our EBUS clinics and fully implement the Head and Neck peer review guidelines by providing BMS on site assistance and adequacy assessment at all head and neck clinics.

We are currently providing specialist HPB reporting services for other regional NHS trusts and are looking to maximise such clinical service delivery in line with the aims of the Trust.

Our non gynaecological service is fully supported by immunohistochemistry and molecular diagnostic services and we are in a prime position to provide reflex molecular testing for many cancer specialities.

You must be HCPC registered and hold a management qualification.

In return we will provide a comprehensive induction programme and you will be appraised on a yearly basis with a view to developing knowledge and skills where appropriate.
