From 1st October 2017, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) has joined together to create a new Foundation Trust which has been named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. 

Our new organisation will provide a single hospital service across the city of Manchester and in 12- 18 months will also include the services currently provided by North Manchester General Hospital.  These changes will make a real difference to the health outcomes and quality of life for the people of Manchester.  That’s why this really is an extremely exciting and challenging period in the delivery of health and social care in Greater Manchester and one that provides a wealth career opportunities for great people right across our Group. 

This is a new post for a Consultant Haematologist specialising in Thrombosis and Haemostasis

 

The Department of Clinical Haematology provides a regional tertiary referral service for Thrombosis and Haemostasis There are presently 3 consultants providing a comprehensive secondary and tertiary care for inherited and acquired bleeding and thrombotic disorders for a large catchment area in NW England. The Haemophilia Centre is a WFH International Training Site, is very active in research and is supported by a laboratory which enjoys a national reputation. The post holder will participate in the haemostasis and thrombosis on-call on a 1: 4 basis; there is a separate rota for general haematology and haemoglobinopathy and malignant haematology.  The appointee would be expected to have relevant experience in haemostasis and thrombosis. It is envisaged that they will develop interests to complement those of the other Haematologists and will oversee the service given to young patients transitioning over from paediatric care.

 

This is a 10PA job plan. Any Consultant who is unable for personal reasons, to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust.
