From 1st October 2017, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) has joined together to create a new Foundation Trust which has been named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

Our new organisation will provide a single hospital service across the city of Manchester and in 12- 18 months will also include the services currently provided by North Manchester General Hospital.  These changes will make a real difference to the health outcomes and quality of life for the people of Manchester.  That’s why this really is an extremely exciting and challenging period in the delivery of health and social care in Greater Manchester and one that provides a wealth career opportunities for great people right across our Group.

An exciting new opportunity has arisen within the medicine and rehabilitation wards at Trafford General Hospital. We are looking for highly dynamic and passionate RMNs to work alongside RNs in the care of frail older people who present with cognitive impairment.

The frailty agenda is a high priority for the NHS to get care and treatment right first time for our frail older people of Manchester. We are looking for RMNs with a true passion for working with this patient group to ensure that patient and carer experience is the best it can be.

Experience of working in an older adult/dementia ward is an essential criteria for individuals who are interested in taking this opportunity to work in the largest NHS Foundation Trust in the country.  We are looking for individuals with experience of DoLs, MCA and MHA, who can lead and ensure that there is good understanding of these legal frameworks at all levels.

Wards at Trafford have been accredited as Gold ward standard and have received the Royal College of Psychiatry Elderly Quality Mark. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work in a multi-professional team including a Nurse Consultant, Dementia lead nurse, therapeutic activity Coordinator – as well as access to RMNs onsite for professional supervision and mentorship.
We are looking to appoint a cohort of 5 RMN staff and will develop an individualised training programme to support these individuals in their professional development of enhanced physical health care skills such as IV therapy.

In return for your skills, enthusiasm and commitment, you can expect a truly excellent comprehensive induction programme whilst being part of a fantastic and dedicated team that supports each other and operates with consideration and dignity at all times. The wards also offer opportunities for career progression within the specialty.

It really is a great chance to join a go-ahead Trust that has an integrated health, teaching, research and innovation campus with state-of-the-art facilities right in the heart of Manchester. As well as offering a diverse range of services to over a million patients a year, our specialist hospitals have a real community feel and are home to hundreds of world-class clinicians and academic staff.
