From 1st October 2017, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) has joined together to create a new Foundation Trust which has been named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

Our new organisation will provide a single hospital service across the city of Manchester and in 12- 18 months will also include the services currently provided by North Manchester General Hospital.  These changes will make a real difference to the health outcomes and quality of life for the people of Manchester.  That’s why this really is an extremely exciting and challenging period in the delivery of health and social care in Greater Manchester and one that provides a wealth career opportunities for great people right across our Group.

Applications are invited for a locum Consultant Neonatologist post based at St. Mary’s Hospital, Manchester to commence as soon as possible. The locum post is for 12 months in the first instance. The hospital is located within Manchester NHS Foundation Trust. This is great opportunity to work in one of the largest neonatal units in England catering for both neonatal medical and surgical infants. The neonatal unit has 59 cots comprising of 32 Intensive and High Dependency cots and 27 Special care cots. There are over 9,000 deliveries per year in St Mary’s hospital and the fetal medicine unit provides a wide range of perinatal services, including fetal imaging, intervention and counselling.

The neonatal unit is co-located with the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, one of the largest children’s hospitals in Europe and therefore the clinical team is exposed to a considerable breadth of clinical experience as the neonatal patients admitted to our unit have a wide range of medical and surgical conditions.

There are strong links to the University of Manchester and an ethos of clinical excellence and research. We are looking for a forward thinking consultant neonatologist who has a commitment to working with a strong and supportive team.

Applications are therefore invited from motivated candidates with wide experience and training in neonatology.
