From 1st October 2017, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) has joined together to create a new Foundation Trust which has been named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. 

Our new organisation will provide a single hospital service across the city of Manchester and in 12- 18 months will also include the services currently provided by North Manchester General Hospital.  These changes will make a real difference to the health outcomes and quality of life for the people of Manchester.  That’s why this really is an extremely exciting and challenging period in the delivery of health and social care in Greater Manchester and one that provides a wealth career opportunities for great people right across our Group. 

This post offers the successful applicants the opportunity to practise Obstetrics and Gynaecology in a tertiary unit/teaching hospital in Central Manchester. With the devolution of the health and social care budgets, Manchester probably represents the most exciting health economy to work in at present and this post offers exciting opportunities for service development. The Trust recently merged with the University Hospital of South Manchester on October 1st 2017.

Saint Mary’s Hospital is a large teaching hospital (over 9000 deliveries/year in 2016-17) in central Manchester that contains the Regional Women’s and Neonatal Services, including the Fetal Medicine Unit and Clinical Genetics services.

The post is suitable for doctors with at least 3 years’ experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, wishing to further their clinical experience in the speciality. The post is particularly suited to an experienced clinician, including post-CCT, as it offers tertiary level experience in a variety of areas of the specialty and experience in one of the busiest high-risk Obstetric units in the UK.

The post can offer the opportunity for senior level (ST 6/7 equivalent) to undertake special interest training including ATSMs if appropriate. The current post holder has special interest sessions in urogynaecology.

The successful candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure.
